The 2020/21 season is set to have a delayed start with Knowle hockey resuming on 5th September, ahead of a league start of Sat 24th October.

Training will resume on Monday 7th September.  As we are not allowed to meet in groups of more than 30 people, hockey training will take place over two sessions.  There will be a 15 minute gap between each session to give players from the first session time to leave the pitch before players for the next session arrive.  Please can we ask that members arrive promptly for their session and leave quickly afterwards.  Social distancing should be adhered to during these times.

Session 1 – 6:45pm – 8:00pm – 2s’ and 3s’ training

Session 2 – 8:15pm – 9:30pm – 1s’ training

In ‘normal’ circumstances, Session 1 includes our 2nd and 3rd team squads and Session 2 is predominantly the 1st team squad. By working on a rolling programme with a variety of squad and whole-club sessions, we hope that everyone will get a variety of training opportunities through playing alongside both their teammates and players from other squads.

With COVID safe-guarding in mind we’ve tweaked this slightly so that once a month, the 2s will attend the 1s’ training session. Alex is in the process of developing a training timetable for sessions up to the Christmas break.  Training arrangements will be reviewed regularly in line with Covid19 and England Hockey guidelines.

Knowle have a professional coaching team as well as several encouraging players with decades of experience between them. Our sessions include run  everything from the theory of the sport, set plays, technique, challenges and drills.  Sessions are typically broken down into small groups but we often end with a short game to practise what we’ve learnt.

Training is included as part of the membership fee, the charge for non-members is £4 per 90 minute session, your first session is free!
